It's tough when something sad happens in your life, but it's even harder when two sad things happen in a row. President Hinkley (the Prophet of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for those who may not know) died a few Sunday's ago and though that was sad, I actually felt more sorrow for him after his wife died and he was left here without her. I hope that they are having a wonderful time together on the other side. I know they are still working for the cause of goodness, righteousness, and truth. Today, Mitt Romney announced he is suspending his campaign because there is no mathematical way to get the number of delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination. Like his Sr. Advisor said today, McCain or Huckabee would not be able to beat him in a "two-man race", but since they united against him, Huckabee split the conservative vote. I digress, but it bothers me that Huckabee would put his own religious bigotry ahead of religious freedom and the recognition of common values among religions. Romney made a wonderful address to CPAC that shows his true intentions to further the cause of conservatism and values in America. What I have learned through these two events is that though we may wage battles against evil, and the battle ends and we may feel defeated, the ending was but a beginning of an even greater cause. President Hinckley's death to me marks the beginning of a new stage in the church's progression, one that he probably will progress on the other side. Mitt Romney's campaign suspension marks the beginning of the rekindled conservative movement spirit not surrendering to evil and deflated values in this world.
